{"id":19417,"date":"2025-01-30T10:21:00","date_gmt":"2025-01-30T10:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/?p=19417"},"modified":"2025-08-26T12:36:57","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T12:36:57","slug":"ecm-biomarkers-are-prognostic-in-primary-cholangitis-psc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/blog\/ecm-biomarkers-are-prognostic-in-primary-cholangitis-psc\/","title":{"rendered":"ECM Biomarkers Are Prognostic in Primary Cholangitis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic liver disease that leads to a damage of the bile duct, inflammation and fibrosis.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/blomster-liver.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/blomster-liver.webp 800w, https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/blomster-liver-300x225.webp 300w, https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/blomster-liver-768x576.webp 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Fibrosis is a key histologic feature of immune-mediated liver diseases such as primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><br>As there is a need for non-invasive biomarkers that can accurately assess the disease severity and prognosis, this study evaluated the ability of extracellular matrix remodeling markers to diagnose fibrosis stage and predict PSC-related fibrosis progression and clinical events.<br><br>Our findings in this study showed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nordicbioscience.com\/biomarker-solution\/nordic-pro-c3\/\">nordicPRO-C3\u2122<\/a> correlated with fibrosis stage, and nordicPRO-C3\u2122 and ELF score provided discrimination of advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis and predicted PSC-related events and fibrosis progression.
